Hyundai Genesis Coupe Limited Edition Comes to EuropeSTORY HIGHLIGHTS: Hyundai will bring 1,000 Genesis Coupe to Europe Only the 2.0l four cylinder engine will equip the Genesis The price for the car is set at arround 25,000 euros
1,000 Genesis Coupe will taunt the ones who didn't get to buy one
Korean manufacturer Hyundai will issue a special limited edition of the Genesis Coupe to be sold in good old Europe, autoblog.nl reported. Finally, you might say. Yes, finally, but there is one little catch: only 1,000 units of the Coupe, priced at around 25,000 euros, will see European soil. The price is higher than the one announced for the US market, set between $22,000 and $25,000.
The 1,000 units aimed at the European consumers will be powered by the 2.0l four cylinder turbocharged engine. The powerplant develops 210 horsepower and has a fuel consumption average of 21 miles per gallon (11l/100 km) and 30 miles per gallon on the highway (8l/100 km).
Hyundai does not seek profit from the distribution of the limited edition in Europe. Rafael Agullo, Hyundai Product Manager said the company chose "a fixed number (of units) with a fixed price." You may find the Coupe somewhat expensive but Hyundai says "in Germany the car costs 25,000 euros, which is significantly less than the 38,000 euro cost Nissan 350Z."
The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is available for purchase in the US and Asia with both the engine version the Korean company will bring to Europe and a more powerful 3.6l V6 one. The bigger powerplant produces 306 horsepower and propels the car to a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/hour). The stock transmission is a 6 speed manual, but optionally a 6 speed automatic can be fitted onto the car.
The Coupe was released in 2008 for the Korean market and is the manufacturer's first rear-wheel drive coupe. The car shares its platform with its bigger brother, the Hyundai Genesis luxury sedan.
